NAKED

By T. Smithrick

Staring in the mirror forced to see who's staring back

Not the person one would have imagined

Not one who's life is intact

I hurt just like you do, bleed blood as red as yours

But the difference between you and I is,

I lie NAKED on the floor.

Exposing all my faults and imperfections, all the things I
like least about me

I'm not afraid to show who I am

Behold, let all seeing eyes see

See that I am no superwoman

I have times that I feel unsure, but I'm not afraid to talk
about that

And thus, I lie NAKED on the floor.

I want love just like you do

I want that fairytale life

I want someone to know me as a friend, a mother and a wife

I want nothing more than to feel appreciated

Respected and wanted for being who I am

No better than any woman or man,

Just cleansed by the blood of a Sacrificial Lamb.

Revealing all my sins

The flaws and all within,

I don't fit your original perception

Not a person void of imperfection

A human being just like you

There's not much difference between us two

Staring in the mirror forced to see who's staring back

Not the person you would have imagined

Not one who's life is intact

I hurt just like you do, bleed blood as red as yours

But the difference between you and I is,

I'm NOT ashamed to lie NAKED on the floor
