Yes fashion is art, because it allows you to express yourself with clothing,
makeup, colors, textures and style. Fashion is art and art is fashion, they are
one in the same if you ask me. I'm a designer/stylist/artist and when someone
asks me what my passion is, I always say art because I am art.

Yes, I do believe that fashion is art. Fashion is just one of the many ways that one can express themselves. The designer of the clothing is the artist and the person wearing the article of clothing is the art creating a masterpiece. You can also say that the person wearing the clothing and how they wear it is a masterpiece, making them the artist and the art on display. Fashion is the modern art of the 21st century and if fashion is a passion of yours, then you help make it into what it is today.

My name is Samuel Jabari Lake. I am a fashion designer, tailor, and certified
wedding planner in the Washington, DC area. My clothing line is labeled jabargue
Collection and JabarWear. I am responding to your question, "Is Fashion Art?" I
honestly feel that this question is really directed at someone who has been in
the fashion industry for a long time and knows the history of fashion that goes
back centuries. I decided to explain my answer to the question and kind of
explain my conclusion.
Fashion
continues to get inspiration from the art world, which influences fashion street
wear, television, movies and technology.
I
100% believe and know that fashion is a form of art. As we all know, the word
"art is defined as
"The conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, movements or
other elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty, specifically the
production of the beautiful in a graphic or plastic medium."
Let me break down this definition of art and
how fashion relates to art. Fashion is an arrangement of sounds since clothing
has a sense to make people listen just by looking at or wearing a garment. You
can definitely hear the music and melody that fashion has; it makes you want to
dance. Fashion is an arrangement of colors because clothing varies in many
variations of colors. Fashion does not come in only black and white but also
comes in pink, green, yellow, purple, cyan and the list goes on. Fashion is an
arrangement of forms and movements, as clothing comes in many variations of
size, shape and design that make the movement of the garment flow with
characteristics and quality. This is why fashion is definitely considered a form
of art.
You can definitely hear the music and melody that fashion has; it makes you
want to dance.
Fashion has all the elements of art.
Everything in life is a form of art once you look at the attributes and break it
down. Fashion has evolved from just being a garment used to cover up the human
body to being a definition of the person wearing the garments/fashion. To me,
fashion is such a strong, forceful and empowering word that has not only defined
my mark in the fashion industry but has also motivated me to continue doing what
I do best, which is to
"Escape the Form of Fashion and Relate it to A Form of Complex Art,"
which
can be seen in all of my collections. Fashion continues to get inspiration from
the art world, which influences fashion street wear, television, movies and
technology.
Hopefully this breaks down why I believe fashion is art. I wish much success on

In response to your question, yes I do believe fashion is art. To some, myself included, fashion is a way of expressing yourself nonverbally and showing your own visions and sense of style. When an individual is deciding what to wear on a daily basis and really puts some thought and effort into it, they are creating their own personal art. Most artists use their talents to express themselves in a fashionable manner and when both fashion and art are combined you have quite an expression.
